Harpocrates is the son of Isis and Serapis according to the Hellenistic adaptation of the Egyptian mythology. The representation of this child god is very codified: he is leaning on his left leg, his index finger is placed over his mouth as a sign of silence and he is holding a rope of abundance. Our bronze is very close to Egyptian mythology with its lotus flower-shaped headdress, reminiscent of the pschent, the crown of the pharaohs.
