Biography:
The Le Maires constitute a dynasty of Parisian manufacturers of scientific instruments. Pierre Le Maire, with his father Jacques Le Maire, ran a famous workshop, "À la Pierre d'Aimant". He built many magnet stones and made many sundials, mainly portable, and graphometers. He signed "Le Maire fils" until the death of his father in 1744. His son, Pierre II le Maire, succeeded him.
