Av. D N ANASTA SIVS PP AVG. Diademed bust of Anastasius left, wearing consular robe, holding mappa and sceptre. Rv. SECVRITAS REIPVBLICAE. Anastasius nimbed, seated frontally on a throne, holding the mappa and a sceptre, a star in the left field, CONO in the exergue.

The emperor is represented in consular clothes, which is exceptional. The reverse is remarkable, with the emperor seated on his throne and holding the mappa. The emperor is nimbed on the reverse, showing that the imperial function, beyond the person of the emperor himself, is divine
