Of Russian origin, Yekaterina Bobrikova worked in the Jeanne Lanvin fashion house from 1927 to 1934. She created her own fashion house under the name Catherine Parel in 1936. Dressing actresses and singers of the time, she was also a costume designer for the cinema, notably for Jean Delannoy's La Symphonie pastorale (1946). The company closed its doors in 1948.
