Two knockers.
- Beautiful looped knocker.
The loop shows two dolphins with their bodies chiselled with scales holding a character's head between their mouths. The tails of the dolphins are prolonged by two stems, entirely chiselled of acanthus foliage, which come to maintain the axis of rotation.
The lace presents a mask of grotesque prolonged and surmounted of chiselled feathers.
Beautiful example of French door knocker of the beginning of the XVIIth century.
Wear on the face of the door.
- Doorknocker in chased iron from the 17th century.
It shows a chased grotesque mask, caught between the richly foliated branches.
The top of the hoop must have shown a falling leaf, which has now disappeared. The axis ends on each side with a button chiselled with volutes.
Accidents, missing parts and wear.
