Joseph MONIN (1903-2000). Naiad on a sea horse, sculpture in stucco with beige patina, signed in hollow on the right side and dated "43". Fixed on a plywood panel. Three restorations.
Born in Toulouse where he received the first part of his education at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, notably with Henri Parayre, Joseph Monin followed the classes of Antoine Bourdelle in Paris from 1926. He then returned to his native town, where he taught volume decoration and drawing at the school of architecture. He was also a teacher in the wood arts workshop run by Henri Parayre. In the 1920s, Joseph Monin formed a famous trio with the artists André Arbus and Camille Saint-Saëns.
