Copy well complete in volume 1 of the warning, of the list of subscribers and of the letter to Mr. Delloye which were deleted later. Minor foxing, old light wetness on the last ten leaves of volume V. Small tear on the upper part of the cover of volume 1, volume II and volume IV. Paper losses on the spines of volumes XI and XII. Otherwise a good copy. This work described as, "an absolute masterpiece", was published only after Chateaubriand's death in 1848, at the request of the author, hence its title.
