KONAKEND carpet (Caucasus), late 19th century Dimensions : 245 x 150cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on wool foundation. A set of nine pastel borders frame the field of this carpet. Four ivory with a series of hooked "S", two anthracite with garlands of flowers, two with bayadère decoration (multicoloured bands) and one main ivory with a succession of multicoloured stylised cruciform flowers. They enclose a background with a brick latticework of flowers and honeycomb, where oblong floral compositions with a starry heart appear. Homogeneous set. (Wear and restorations, in the state)
