Gallery carpet KARABAGH/ARTSAKH(Caucasus, Armenia), end of 19th century
Dimensions : 296 x 110cm.
Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on wool foundation.
An old rose medallion, hexagonal, vegetalized, serrated and its two important floral poly-lobed and arrowed pendants rest on an oblong and geometrical abraché marine field, decorated with small animals. Four spandrels and their serrated pyramidal outgrowths, reminiscent of the central medallion, embellish the decoration. The frame is composed of three pastel borders with garlands of stylized flowers. Beautiful poetry. (Wear and restorations)
