A Paris, Chez Desaint & Saillant et Chez Durand, 1755-1759. 4 volumes in-folio (XXXX x XXXX mm), marbled calf, triple gilt fillet framing the covers, ornate ribbed spine, morocco title-pieces (period binding).A frontispiece by OUDRY, engraved by COCHIN, decorated with a bust of La Fontaine, a portrait of Oudry after LARGILLIÈRE and 275 engraved figures after drawings by OUDRY taken by COCHIN.The plate illustrating "Le Singe et le Léopard" (vol. III, pp. 110/111) is here, with the inscription.Ex-dono on the false titles of volumes I & III and the titles of volumes II & IV. Joints of vol. II split over 5 cm; four headpieces damaged; a few freckles and a few russeted plates; small marginal stains on about 20 leaves; marginal tear on one plate (vol. I, p. 90).
