BAUDELAIRE Charles (1821-1867)
Autograph letter signed [to Gervais CHARPENTIER], S.l., 20 June 1863 2 p. on 1 f. in-8. Slight folds.
Autograph letter signed by Baudelaire to the publisher Gervais Charpentier, director of the Revue Nationale et étrangère. Baudelaire, very unhappy, informs him of his unpleasant disappointment that his texts, published in the Revue Nationale, have been corrected without his agreement: "I have just read the two extracts (Les Tentations and Dorothée) inserted in the Revue Nationale. I find there extraordinary changes introduced after my final approval. [...] I have spent my whole life learning to construct sentences, and I say, without fear of making people laugh, that what I deliver to a printing house is perfectly reliable."
