The lover's visit. 1st half 18th c Drawing, pen and black ink, with grey wash, over black chalk, 27 x 19,4 cm, laid paper with watermark (Van Gelder), unsigned (several brown stains at lower right corner below man's feet, dirt stains at lower left, old creases at upper right corner, glue marks on verso). An elegant gentleman visiting four ladies at the coffee table in a domestic interior. Given the squaring grid, the sheet may have served as preparatory drawing for a painting.
