Small travel inkwell and hourglass in its rectangular hinged shagreen case, containing a butterfly-closing inkwell and an hourglass (the lid is missing), engraved with the arms attributed to François Berthelot de Baye, lieutenant-general of the King's armies (1703 - 1776) in a shield on each element. The feathers are missing. The tube of a later mechanical pencil is attached.
