PARRASIO MICHELI (seguace di)
(Venice, 1516 - 1578)
Dama
Oil on panel, 24X22 cm
The historical sources, especially Claudio Ridolfi and Pietro Aretino, describe Parrasio Micheli as a personality well inserted in the Venetian cultural world and a pupil of Tiziano Vecellio. However, the small number of documented works and the many copies attributed to him by the master and Paolo Veronese hinder the compilation of a reasoned catalogue and chronology. It is certain that his first known works date back to the end of the sixth decade and that during his career he became known for the production of portraits.
