PITTORE DEL XVII SECOLO
Natura morta con frutta e verdura
Oil on canvas, 104X135 cm with contemporary frame
Referred to Simone Del Tintore (Lucca, 1630 - 1708) in the collection to which he belonged, the work depicts a kitchen table on which majolica plates, game, vegetables and fruit are arranged. Although archaic in character, the depiction shows a descriptive vitality with a baroque flavour and results very close to the posed natures of the Neapolitan Giovanni Battista Recco (Naples, 1610 - 1660). The composition also betrays an intense Spanish sensibility, in analogy with the bodegones of Alejandro de Loarte and Juan Sánchez Cotán. The dark luministic direction investigates the different objects, highlighting and shaping the forms, skilfully evoking the surfaces with a singular mimesis. The light that flows and shapes, measures the scenic and perspective space, creating a very strong sense of realism enhanced by the dark backdrop that accentuates the tangible concreteness.
