"On the right there is a close fight between three knights, one of whom is seen from the back with a plumed hat and sword stretched forward on a grey pommelated steed and is shot at point blank range by the pistol of an adversary wearing body armour, a plumed helmet and blue breeches. In the foreground a white horse is lying on the ground, its rider having been thrown from the saddle; another, also on foot and wounded, is trying to escape by moving away from the fray. On the left side, under a cloud of dust, a trumpeter with a blue banner on a black horse bursts onto the scene. The epicentre of the battle is represented in a reduced exhibition metre in a valley, at the foot of a rocky slope surmounted by an isolated round tower." 73x100 cm
