BÉRANGER (Pierre Jean de). Les Gaietés de Béranger. Forty-four erotic songs by this poet followed by political and satirical songs not collected in his so-called complete works. Amsterdam : aux dépens de la compagnie [Bruxelles : Poulet-Malassis], 1864. - In-12, red morocco, boards decorated with a frame of two cold filets with gilt fleuron at the corners, and a large oval gilt medallion richly decorated in the center, spine decorated, gilt lace inside, gilt edges (period binding). Beautiful edition published by Poulet-Malassis, illustrated with an etched frontispiece by Félicien Rops and a title vignette by the same author. Copy on ordinary vellum paper, including the frontispiece. A very fine copy. On the verso of the first blank page is a small old photograph of a man, perhaps the owner of the copy at the time. The second board shows some rubbing and a trace of a blow in its lower part. Attached, by the same author : - LES CHANSONS EROTIQUES. S.l. S.l.: Aux dépens d'un amateur, 1923 [1926]. - In-8, paperback, filled cover. Edition of 260 copies. One of 250 on Montgolfier white vellum (n° 48), this one without the original etchings in colour attributed to Virot, except the one on the title, but enriched with 4 original unsigned drawings, enhanced with watercolours, on pages 10, 48, 51 and 71 .
