Provenance: Private ownership, Germany. An attribution to Ludovico Carracci has been suggested for this painting, but this does not seem plausible. In the absence of indisputable evidence to support the attribution to Ludovico, it is preferable to associate it with a painter of the Northern Italian School between the late 16th and early 17th centuries.
