This Virgin in majesty carries the Child seated on her knees.
Her untied hair undulates on her shoulders. A large octagonal medallion, carved in the imitation of a piece of goldsmith's work and centred on a precious stone, holds the sides of her cloak, which forms a canopy above the head of Christ. As for the Child, he is pretending to jump. His long tunic, raised above his left knee, reveals a foot pointing forward, while his mother puts her hand forward to hold him back. The dynamic posture of the Child contrasts sharply with the more hieratic posture of the Virgin, throne of Wisdom.
