The author of the present composition combines in an exceptional way the genre of the still life of flowers with the Andalusian baroque models of the end of the XVII century. A young girl looks directly at the viewer as she works as a florist, assembling a delicate bouquet of flowers in her hands. The wicker baskets, the stone planters and the majolica flowerpots complete a totally aesthetic work, a faithful reflection of the Andalusian pictorial models of the late 17th century. The work is an advance on the gallant and hedonistic, cheerful and colorful compositions that marked the course of 19th century Andalusian painting, inspired by an idealized past, often from the 17th and 18th centuries.
