Entredós. Napoleon III. France, end of XIX century. In ebonized wood, gilt bronze decoration. With stamp A. Lemoine. Measurements: 114 x 91 x 44 cm. Ebonized wood entablature covered with Boullé decoration, combining tortoiseshell background decorated with gilded bronze. The furniture rises on an entablature decorated with masks inspired by Greco-Roman designs and filleted with mixtilinear forms. The central panels are decorated in the Boullé style, with bronze appliqués on tortoiseshell simile sheet, starting from a central motif. This motif expands across the field, forming rhythmic patterns based on vegetal stylizations. Ornamenting the blunt flanks are two figures in stipes, also in bronze, whose head simulates the architrave, which in turn is traversed by a foliated fretwork, embossed in bronze. In Napoleon III's time, the use of Boullé type marquetry was frequent, according to the designs that the famous cabinetmaker popularized while he worked for King Louis XIV. The interior of the furniture consists of three shelves.
