MARIUS-JOSEPH SAÏN (1877-1961) Diane Chasseresse Important lost-wax bronze with a golden patina with a brownish tinge. Signed on the terrace and annotated Cire perdue Susse frères Fondeurs Paris. H: 210 cm W: 140 cm D: 50 cm Before settling in Paris in 1902 and studying at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Marius Saïn attended the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Avignon and then in Marseille. During his training he worked under the direction of the famous sculptors Gabriel Thomas, Antoine Injalbert and Henri Allouard and collaborated with Félix Charpentier in his workshop The influence and fame as a painter in the capital of his older brother Paul Saïn will allow him to meet all the intelligentsia of the time and to receive numerous private and state commissions with many monuments. The sculpture we present is probably a unique piece made around 1930. It presents very beautiful effects of surface to suggest the texture of fabrics. It is representative of the monumental work which often accompanied Saïn in his work. One finds in this one the beauty of the naked women which he appreciated particularly and the influence of his Masters.
