Max Klinger (1857 Leipzig - 1920 Großjena/ Naumburg) "Bathing Girl, Reflecting in the Water". Original title bronze, dark brown patinated, 1896/97. Founder's inscription "Akt. Ges. v. H. Gladenbeck & Sohn". Cast after 1902/03. High green-black marble base. In 1896/97 Klinger created the life-size (152 cm), partly gilded marble sculpture "Badendes Mädchen, sich im Wasser spiegelnd" (Bathing Girl, Reflecting in the Water), which is now in the Museum of Fine Arts in Leipzig. The "Badende" is one of the most charming figures of his sculptural oeuvre. With Klinger's permission, the Berlin foundry H. Gladenbeck & Sohn produced bronze reproductions in several sizes from 1902/03, which were sold by the Leipzig firm C. B. Lorck. The edition size is unknown. H. 40 cm. Total h. 54,3 cm. Cf.
