Andalusian school of the seventeenth century. "Pietà". Polychrome clay. Signed on the side of the window. Measurements: 21,5 x 14,5 cm; 24 x 17 x 6 cm (showcase). Religious sculptural group belonging to the seventeenth century, framed within the Andalusian school for its formal characteristics. It is a work worked in relief, polychrome, representing the theme of the Pietà: the Virgin seated with the dead Christ in her lap, a theme of deep dramatism not only because of the theme itself, but also because its composition evokes the images of the Virgin with the Child Jesus in her lap. The whole is completed by the symbols of the Passion and the Mount of Calvary, all framed in a window.
