***WITHDRAWN*** A 'PANTHÈRE' PENDANT, BY CARTIER, CIRCA 1980
The bi-coloured hanging panther suspended from a polished surmount, in 18K gold and silver, signed Cartier, numbered, with maker's mark 'LV' for Lucien Vachey, French assay marks, with maker's fitted case, length (including bale): 5.6cm
Accompanied with its certificate of authenticity from Cartier, place du Casino in Monte-Carlo, dated November 14th 1987
Lucien Vachey was a goldsmith as well as a sculptor. His workshop was registered at 45 Avenue des Ternes in the 17th district of Paris from the 1960s until the 2000s. He patented 'silverplatinum' which was a special blackened silver alloy. The workshop produced for Hermès and Cartier amongst other famous French brands. He passed away in February 2021 at 96 years old.
