In-4 brick morocco, oriental style binding with spine on the right and flap on the left, richly decorated with oriental cold decoration on the boards and flap, spine flaps and inside flap very finely decorated with incised moucharabieh decoration revealing pieces of green and ivory silk, blue and white bordered silk endpapers, cover and spine preserved.
The illustration consists of 19 single plates and 8 double plates by Dinet, and 12 colour and gold titles out of the text and ornaments in the text by Mohammed Racim, with a map of the Hedjaz.
First edition, dedicated "to the memory of the Muslims who died for France" and printed at 925 copies; n°925 of 800 on vellum.
Sliman Ben Ibrahim Baâmer was the guide of the orientalist painter Etienne Dinet (1861-1929) during his trip to Algeria in 1889; he introduced Dinet to Bedouin legends as well as to Islamic spirituality and produced with him no less than 8 works.
