Two large female terracotta busts (ex voto dedicated to a deity: Demeter, Korè, Artemis or Aphrodite), dressed in a tunic tied under the chest and wearing a floral crown. The top of the back of a seat appears behind the shoulders. A gripping pin behind each head. Traces of polychromy. Mediterranean basin. 4th century B.C.
Size : 31.5 x 20 cm.
Similar examples (with backrest and crown of flowers) are exhibited in the museum of Pella (Greece) and come from the excavations of the agora.
Acquired by a French diplomat in the 1930s and kept in the family since then.
