A Chinese painting on silk, two phoenixes and peonies, Eary Qing, 17/18th century, China, A very fine silk painting. According to an accompanying letter (dated february 1960), by J. Fontein (Rijksmuseum Amsterdam), he attributes this paiting to Yun Piao (1644-1712) as signed, and suspects this painter to have been related to Yun Shouping (1633-1690). Signed in the lower left side. Framed behind glass within a silk border mounted on paper. 147 x 75 cm (the painting) 165 x 86 cm (including frame), General age wear, some areas (non critical) where the silk has gone. The silk mounted to paper, cannot be rolled due to the fragile nature of the silk. Some old water staining in the margins.
