Four bone plaques - Workshop of Baldassare degli Embriachi, late 14th – early 15th Century
of curved shape, from wedding caskets inlaid with the so-called “Certosina” technique and decorated with profane and religious subjects; in this case is depicted the Sacrifice of Isaac. The style is still linked to fourteenth Century iconography, linear figures characterised by rigid gestures and postures (Ref. L. Martini and L. Foi "Bottega degli Embriachi", coffers and chests between Gothic and Renaissance, Brescia 2001 - M. Tomasi "La Bottega degli Embriachi" 2001).
Height x width 16.4 x 10.7 cm each. Velvet frame dimensions 4.5 x 29.5 x 23 cm.
Item condition grading: **** good (minor defects).
Accompanied by Ce.S.Ar. Centro Studi Archeometrici certificate of authenticity (pre-1947).
