The youthful Maria is depicted as Maria lactans in front of a group of trees in a half-length portrait, with lateral views of the landscape. The motif refers to a painting by Solario, which is in the Louvre, but has been largely altered in the landscape background. At the upper left edge of the picture some colour breaks.
