Rare top secretary, Germany/Berlin, first half of the 19th century.
Probably after a design by Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781-1841). Softwood construction, veneered in selected pyramid mahogany and ivory inlays. The substructure of the chest of drawers has three drawers, with a fold-down writing tablet above and a wide cambered drawer in the entablature. The front flanked by fully sculptured columns. Key present. Rest, slight signs of age, minimal veneer losses and slight shrinkage cracks, 233 x 115 x 60 cm.
