Louis BENTABOLE (1820-1880), The fishing port of Trouville sur Mer, oil on canvas, signed lower right and dated 1869 - 90 cm x 120 cm (lining) - Louis Bentabole is a famous marine painter of the Napoleon III period. On the shore, various fishing boats are stranded at low tide. In the foreground, a large cutter with a dark hull bearing the identification "TH7" on its bow, with three sailors caulking the planking. In the background, a cargo wagon with five white horses is passing by, and on the right, a cart with red wheels is going down a hill. A female passenger is holding a blue parasol. Other pedestrians are walking on the road and a heavily loaded cart is going up the hill. In the centre of the painting, a house is topped with a thatched roof and above it, the spire of the church of Trouville "Notre Dame des Victoires" can be seen, which is being restored.
On the left side of the painting, one can see a paddlewheel ship leaving the channel of the commercial port.
