This composite column presents in the upper part, a bust of the god
Pan, in giallo antico. He is characterized by a hair and a beard
of abundant and curly locks.
The same movements are found on the moustache and the eyebrows.
The face has emaciated features, the look is intense, accentuated by visible
accentuated by the visible expression lines.
The mouth is large and finely sculpted, barely open.
In her hair, a garland of interlacing leaves and berries,
highlighting two beautiful horns in the central axis. On her

Supporting this finely executed herme - a composite column whose main part is

The architectural complexity as well as the choice of different coloured stones of great quality remind us of the sumptuous decorations of the villas of the Pompeian elite.
This column was probably made for a table support in the peristyle or
table in the peristyle or in an inner garden (see comparenda).
In spite of some restorations, the great quality of conservation of this piece

This composite column presents on its upper part, an herm of the
god Pan, in giallo antico. He is characterized by hair and a beard of
abundant and curly locks.
The same movements are reproduced on the mustache and
eyebrows. The face has emaciated features and an intense gaze,
accentuated by expression wrinkles.
The mouth is large and finely sculpted, barely half-opened.
In his hair, a garland of intertwining leaves and berries highlighting
two beautiful horns in the middle of the head. Ribbons adorned
with floral motifs on his bust. Supporting this finely executed herm,
a composite column - the main part of which is carved in giallo
antico and embellished with elements of breccia and semesanto for
the part which surmounts the head. Under the shaft, we can see the
god's feet finely carved, in the same material. All of these sculpted
elements stand on a molded stepped base also in giallo antico.
The architectural complexity as well as the choice of different
colored stones of great qualities remind the sumptuous
decorations of the pompeian elite villas.
This column was probably made as a table support arranged in the
peristyle or in an interior garden (see comparenda).
Despite some restorations, the high quality of conservation of this
piece still allows us to appreciate the refinement and splendor
specific to pompeian decorum.
