“Almanach pour 30 ans, dédié à la Reine”, par LEQUIN, 1775.
Rare etching and burin on strong laid paper, partly openwork, decorated with medallion portraits of King Louis XVI and Queen Marie-Antoinette. Signature at the bottom: "By his very humble and faithful subject Lequin" (active in the 18th century).
This almanac was particularly original since it was equipped with a circular mechanism on the back allowing to obtain quickly the various information relating to a given date. Published in Paris in 1775, it is a sophisticated object by its form and intended for a literate and bourgeois public since it cost three pounds. Its publication was announced as follows in the Gazette de France of October 20, 1775: "Almanach pour trente ans, dédié à la Reine, par le sieur Lequin, formant une estampe enrichie des portraits du Roi et de la Reine et de divers ornements. At the author's house, rue et hôtel de Condé. Price 3 Livres, and under glass and borders 8 Livres." Freckles.
H. 44.5 x W. 36 cm.
