Rare boite ronde in ivory inlaid on the lid with...

Rare boite ronde in ivory inlaid on the lid with an oval medallion circled in gold with the equestrian portrait of the Count of Artois (1757-1836), in the uniform of colonel general of the Swiss and Grisons, painted on mother-of-pearl and with marcasite highlights, gilded metal sticks and gilded lozenges, made after the print of Robin de Montigny (see below). Inside lined with tortoiseshell. Slight wear and tear, a crack in the ivory, missing its protective glass. 18th century, circa 1775-1780. H. 2,5 x D. 7 cm.
