Marie Antoinette, Queen of France (1755-1793).
Bust in hard porcelain biscuit, after the marble which was presented at the Salon du Louvre in October 1783 and kept in the National Museum of the Château de Versailles. The queen, then twenty-eight years old, is represented in all the dignity of her function, she is draped in the royal coat with flowers and lined with ermine. Her high wig, in the fashion of the time, is enriched with flowers held in place by a ribbon. At her neck, the sovereign wears a large medallion presenting the profile of Louis XVI.
