The painting can be compared to works by Colijn de Coter such as the Deploration over the Body of Christ (or Bernartsky Triptych) in the Elvehjem Museum of the University of Wisconsin, Madison (see C. Perier d'Iteren, Colyn de Coter, Brussels, 1985, fig. 277).
