Antonio Tempesta, Petrus de Jode, The four saisons. / Description: The four saisons: Spring with music playing violin, lute, flute. Summer with Apollo in the sky, Autumn with Bacchus, Winter with an old man warming his hands. Very rare complete set of four etchings in reverse after the etchings of Antonio Tempesta (1555-1630), Made in Antwerp and published by Petrus de Jode I (1573-1634) in Antwerp ca 1613-1618. After several years in Italy he had returned to Antwerp. An example of the renaissance cross-pollination between Flanders and Italy. References: in reverse after Bartsch 804-807. No references found of this particular set. Pieter de Jode I published other etchings after Tempesta in Antwerp ca 1613-1618. Four etchings in excellent condition. Good dark/grey impressions printed on thin laid paper with narrow margins. Mounted on another laid paper. With a watermark.
