FRANÇOIS POMPON (1855-1933) "Sow" the model created in [1908-1918], our proof numbered 4, executed on May 6, 1926, from the edition by A.A. Hébrard reputed to 9 copies made between 1918 and 1931 Sculpture. Proof in bronze with dark antique green shaded with grey-anthracite. Lost wax casting realized in 1926. Original antique edition of A.A. Hébrard (following the contract signed on April 16, 1918 between the sculptor and the publisher). Signed POMPON, bears the lost wax stamp A.A. HÉBRARD and the number 4 under the belly of the animal. H. 11,3 cm - W. 20,2 cm - D. 6,7 cm (Some scratches, wear and scattered jumps in the patina, especially towards the shoulder and the left flank and the upper part of the left ear, a very slight crushing at the end of the left ear). Provenance : - Collection M. Philippe Burnot (1877-1956), engraver and draftsman, living on rue Sully in Lyon (a plaque commemorates his presence), founder of the association Le bois gravé lyonnais, participant in the Salon d'Autmone, Paris, 1920 and the Exposition des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, Paris, 1925, member of the commission of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon. Intimate of Claudius Linossier, with whom he collaborated in particular for the work Le Centaure (text of Maurice de Guérin); the coppersmith will carry out for him a bust in the round of his daughter Marielle towards 1926. Marielle Burnot will become curator at the Cantini Museum in Marseille and her husband, the son of Alfred Latour engraver in Eygualières, will be curator of the Museum of Arles. Work acquired directly at the time (1927) by Philippe Burnot; very probably through the intermediary of the Galerie Honegger in Lyon. - Work remained, since, in its descent.
