Often disdained by collectors because of its poor performance, the auxiliary motor bicycle or BMA is now experiencing a strong revival of interest.
Bicycles with auxiliary motor were born from a decree of September 12, 1925 which allowed to ride without a license provided that they did not exceed a weight of 30 kilos and a speed of 30 km/h. In order to meet such draconian specifications, the manufacturers presented to the mines a basic version, stripped to the extreme, and then offered their customers numerous options, which transformed the "dragonfly" of the beginning into a real little motorcycle, perfectly equipped but whose weight of the various additions did not appear on the mines' sheet.
The MOTOBECANE B1C replaces the previous versions with a belt and offers a chain transmission system with a clutch to avoid stalling during stops. It is also equipped with a more efficient braking system.
