Essay on the application of central forces to the effects of gunpowder, from which a theory can be deduced to improve the various fireworks. Paris, C.-
A. Jombert, 1737, in-8, with a folding plate, marbled fawn calf, smooth spine decorated, simple gilt fillet on the edges, red edges (period binding).
This is the first edition of the rare first work of Bigot de Morogues (1706-1781), then a simple artillery officer in the navy (Royalartillery), where he first served thirteen long years (1723-1736). This was the beginning, as is well known, of a brilliant career, both at sea, and as a theoretical writer.
Absent from Polak.
A fine copy from the library of Shirburn Castle, of the Earls of Macclesfield, with ex-libris vignettes pasted on the first endpapers.
