Treaty of artifice of war, as well for the attack and the defense of the places as for the service of campaign (...). Printed with the authorization of H.E. the Minister of War. Paris, Magimel, 1809, in-8, long-grained green morocco, smooth spine decorated with gilt garlands and suns, framed with rat's tooth, simple fillet and geometrical frieze gilt on the boards, lemon edges (period binding). Traces of moisture. Corners damaged, but a fine copy.
A very rare treatise on artillery, which focuses on materials (saltpetre, powder, etc.) as well as on the preparation of pieces.
Only 3 copies in the CCF (Sainte-Geneviève, Caen and Strasbourg).
Copy of Antoine-Auguste Mabru, with ex-libris vignette pasted on the first endpapers. It is most likely this Mabru (1780-1853), from Clermont-Ferrand, who was director of the mines of Pechelbronn in Alsace from 1812 to 1837, and played a significant role in the first oil exploitations in France.
