"Brémond d'Ars was appointed to this regiment in 1806 upon his graduation from the Ecole militaire de Fontainebleau. To the history of the regiment, work of the general according to his own memories, are mixed from 1807 the letters of Brémond d'Ars on his stays in Westphalia and in Spain". The first part of the work is a biographical note on the general de Brémond d'Ars, reproducing numerous letters. The second part constitutes the memories proper which form a history of the 2nd Regiment of Chasseurs à Cheval.
