A French-Armenian painter who settled in the Parisian suburb of Issy-les-Moulineaux in 1931, Jean Jansem began his studies in painting with free classes at Montparnasse (1934/36). He later studied at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs. He had solo exhibitions in Paris, New York, Chicago, London, Tokyo, Rome, Brussels, Lausanne, Beirut, etc. He was also elected President of the Salon of the Union of Young Artists in 1956. This is a work in which Jean Jansem's introspective language is expressed in all its essence. The human figure is at the centre of his work, with an evident spiritual expression.
