Paul DELAROCHE after : Napoleon crossing the Alps. Oil on copper. 23 x 18 cm.
Bonaparte crossing the Alps is a painting done in 1848 by the French painter Paul Delaroche. The painting represents Napoleon Bonaparte at the head of his army crossing the Alps on a mule, in the spring of 1800, during the second Italian campaign. The painting was inspired by the work of Jacques-Louis David Bonaparte crossing the Great St. Bernard (1801-1803).
