DELÂTRE Auguste (1822-1907). Etching, drypoint and soft varnish. Preface by CASTAGNARY. Letter from Félicien ROPS (Paris, A. Lanier & G. Vallet, 1887); small in-4, 36 pages and suite of 6 plates; contemporary binding half-cornered red chagrin, spine decorated, gilt head (A. Coquard). First edition, illustrated with unpublished engravings by Félicien ROPS, Henry SOMM, Armand POINT and Auguste DELÂTRE. Autograph signed on the false-title : " Hommage de mon plus profond respect à Madame Castagnary son dévoué serviteur Aug. Delâtre Fév. 1887 ". Original drawings by Henry SOMM (10 pen drawings in the margin of the chapter on La Pointe sèche), and by Félicien ROPS (pen drawing, signed FR, in the margin of the chapter on Le Vernis mou: character reading a strong volume titled Des vernis durs et mols). Each engraving is in double state, and preceded by a captioned serpente.
