Marie-Louise was the daughter of André Mellerio (1862-1943), art critic who defended symbolism and was the biographer and great friend of Redon. He was also an advocate of original color lithography on which he published a seminal work, illustrated by Bonnard (see no. 61). At the time of this birth certificate, between 1897 and 1899, he co-edited the art journal L'Estampe et l'affiche with the critic Noël Clément-Janin.
