DUMAS (Alexandre fils). THE LADY WITH CAMELIAS. Preface by Jules Janin. Paris, Michel Lévy, 1872. In-8, red morocco, covers richly decorated with small irons, spine decorated with nerves, gilt inner lace, gilt edges (Smeers). This special edition, revised and corrected by the author, is printed at 526 copies. One of the 25 copies on China paper (n°16), decorated with the portrait on China paper before the letter of Marie Duplessis and to which the famous suite of 11 plates (on Japon paper), etched by M. de Los Rios, after Besnard, including a portrait of Dumas fils, after Giraud, the only one existing of the author at the time he wrote La Dame aux camélias, has been joined. The work is accompanied by an AUTOGRAPHIC NOTE SIGNED BY DUMAS and addressed to Mr. Castelnau about his correspondence. Ex-libris Jules Janin, author of the preface. One hinge weakened.
