NERVAL (Gérard de). SYLVIE. Illustrated with 46 drypoints by Michel Ciry. Paris, Porson, 1943-45. In-8, olive morocco, inner boards lined with morocco of the same hue, grade of salmon moire, double guard, spine ribbed, covers and spine preserved, case (Jean-Etienne). Edition at 227 copies, this one of the 28 first copies on vellum containing a suite of 46 drypoints, of which 28 WITH ADDITIONAL REMARKS AND AN ORIGINAL COPPER embedded inside the first plate. The binding is of such a soft green leather, that the spine, exposed to light, has slightly faded; but the patina of time has done its work, and the gradation from green to light chestnut adds charm to this copy.
