PETITY (J.R). ENCYCLOPEDIE ELEMENTAIRE or introduction to the study of letters, sciences and arts... decorated with intaglio prints. Paris, Herissant, 1767. 3 volumes in-4°, marbled calf, spine decorated, red tr. (binding of the time). The abbot de Petity was preacher to Queen Marie Leszcinska. His encyclopedia is illustrated with a frontispiece by Gravelot and 45 copper-engraved plates (out of 57 announced in the notice to the bookbinder) illustrating agriculture, poetry, mythology, writing, architecture, and the typographical characters of various languages.
